Living, Leading & Facilitating in Grey Zone Change: A Conversation with Yabome Gilpin-Jackson

This is the 26th video produced in the ‘Just in Case…’ mini-series sponsored by Quality and Equality. In this video we are joined by Dr. Yabome Gilpin-Jackson, a brilliant scholar-practitioner in the field of human/organization development (OD) who received the first ever recipient of the OD Network’s Emerging Practitioner award in the US. She has also been named International African Woman of the Year by UK-based Women4Africa and received the prestigious Harry Jerome Professional Excellence Award in Canada. She currently is an Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University and the Principal at SLD Consulting Inc.

Today, Yabome shares a theory she has developed called ‘Grey Zone Change’, an approach to helping engage with and support transformational change which is undefined and unknowable. She delightfully details how she’s developed the concept through answering five questions:

  1. What is Grey Zone Change?

  2. What do you need to understand about the dynamics of Grey Zone Change?

  3. How do you navigate Grey Zone Change?

  4. How do you facilitate through Grey Zone Change?

  5. What are some lessons from the Grey Zone Change?
